Roman Achievements
The Romans achieved a vast amount of improvements and innovations that were not just architectural. Mosaics decorated various buildings, bathhouses, and were sort of an alternate choice for paintings. First started as a commission, mosaics not only looked beautiful and eye-catching, but were durable to walk on and boosted the art world of Ancient Rome. Mosaics could range from pretty simple to very ornate and could also be a way for a rich person to show off. Arches were brilliantly designed to distribute above weight downward, equally into columns. These were the beginning of multiple story buildings. Arches were also very important to be used in aqueducts and bridges. Tunnels and some ceilings would not be possible without knowledge on how an arch works. The most known use of arches are shown in the structure of the Colosseum.
